We are all birds trapped in cages

We are all birds trapped in cages
only able to view the outside world through filtered words from the squawk of the media
and fear and uncertainty by those who are supposed to protect us.
Its not in our nature to be trapped like this, for societal pressures require us to be busy and  deem those staying at home all day, unable to work -
to be lazy, unproductive subsequently unworthy.
Maybe, in this current crisis they were wrong?
Wrong to not focus on what matters in life.
For now upon this time of reflection, we are unable to leave our cages and so our focus shifts.
We are no longer caught up in our busy lives; whether it be school, work and commitments of any other kind, we are now free from.
Now, more than ever we need to focus on what matters most:

Humanity

We are protected by our cages for now, unable to see, meet or greet each other but we are more connected than ever before. So reach out, check in on those who are not just socially distant but socially isolated for we are all in this together. There are no 'I's only 'we's for there is a need for us to look after each other.

When we are freed we will realise the cage was open all along, we were just blinded by our own feathers to see it.
